http://eng.letters.kremlin.ru/ "Send a Letter to the President"

This says that you can send a letter to the President of Russia! Is this real? How does it work? What do you think?

Let's pray he does alright.

Out of 6,000 candidates they pick a clown?

You could continue to say that the clown congressman that was elected to Brazil didn't mean business, or that he just wanted the benefits of being a congressman, but I refuse to think that he ran just because he felt like it. I cant say that I personally know why he ran, but there is a reason that all heads of state run for candidacy, he must of thought that something was wrong, and he could fix it. but the question in mind for me was Why did the people vote for him? I have a few reasons to think why they chose him above any other
  1. There is an undeniable satisfaction in laughing after a hard day, week, or history. I think that maybe this is why the people voted for "Grumpy" maybe, just maybe they needed some comic relief, after all, we all do some time, and you can not deny that Grumpy is funny. His logo "It can't get worse" is something that strikes me as odd, why people would want to believe a guy who basically says "things are not too great, vote for me and lets see what will happen" is beyond me, but I think maybe the people of Brazil are tired of know-it-alls running for office and need a little funny.
  2. Another reason why maybe he won is because people liked his thoughts, have you ever thought of that? The only source we have heard from on what his ideas are, are stupid YouTube videos of him speaking in a language we don't understand. If you lived in Brazil and listened to their news, and maybe even went to rally we might have a better idea of who this guy really is.
That said I have come to the conclusion that this guy "Grumpy" might be, OK.
Lets just pray he does alright!

Posting tips

I have decided that I should do a post to help everyone blog efficiently so I don't have to do any additional work to keep all the posts organized. Not that you guys are not doing a good job, all of you that have posted have written wonderful things. I just want to help you get better. :)
The simplest way you can help me do this is by labeling your posts. This makes it so anyone that gets on the blog can look under a topic and find all the posts under that label. To label a post you go to the bottom right corner of your post and type in the label. I would prefer if you did not make new labels. You can click "Show all" and it will give you a list of all the labels, you can then select the one it goes under.

Another tool that makes browsing through posts easy is having the hyper links that you can just click on to go to the article. There are a few ways to do this.

1. On many news sources they have Blogger.com as a direct link. If you go to the article you want to
share, and find some button that says something like "share article" you then find the Blogger.com symbol and click on it. It will then ask for you to log in to the blog and ask what blog you want to post on.

2. The second way you can add a hyper link is by selecting the link to the article, copying that name, going to the blue button link on your blog post, and pasting the link on the indicated bar.  This can be used for making words create a link like this.

I hope this is helpful in some way so we can keep everyone moving in the right direction. If you have any more technical questions just comment and I will see if I can help. Sorry for the image size but I couldn't make them too big or they would have taken up the whole page.

So, what do we really know about the Prime Minister?

So, as I was looking up Russian news, I found this. The Prime Minister, Vladimir Putin, was given a provocative present. A calender full of beautiful women, in the playboy fashion, with little speech bubbles saying things like, "We love you." and "How about a third time?" referring to he would run to be president again . This calender was supposed to show that smart women could be beautiful and the people of the magazine who made the calender wanted to wish the Prime Minister a happy birthday. It is assured that the girls will be shown no penalties but a mild lecture.
I have to say, this make you smile, but it also makes you think. I am sure the Prime Minister has recieved some interesting gifts in his time, but as to calenders like these? Things that make you go hmmm...

Losing our religion

This is a great opinion article about Americans complete lack of knowledge about world religions and how it really harms are ability to understand other cultures. It also goes on to talk about how we are manipulated because we don't know all the facts and because of that we can be fed lies by people with agendas.
I was very happy that I did know all the facts that only about 34% of Americans new from the survey that the article uses. I also am not at all surprised by the statistics that are incredibly low numbers for some very important issues. One of the most scary ones is as follows. "only 54% of Americans know that The Quran is the Islamic holy book.

Politics can be entertaining....

WE just found this while researching the 911 conspiracy news. Who knew there was this many options?

Maybe being a conspiracy theorist is easier then we think

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_conspiracy_theories

My favorites are the One World Order and the Clinton Body Count
In response to the news article "China's Spat with Japan" I would like to provide the following perspective.

My thoughts on the issue are:

The measures that China went to to get this Chinese fishing boat and its crew back, were way out of line. They basiclly took away a ton of modern conveniences from Japan as a 'motive' to give him back to them. Also, the fact that they cut diplomatic communications was very unnecessary. I think the pressure that they were giving Japan was entirely unnecessary.

And so, the reason that I think China has been far too hard on Japan and deserves a little payback, is that they deprived Japan of most modern conveniences, they cut of diplomatic communications, and on top of all that, they say they didn't have anything to do with any of the punishment that Japan received which I come to believe is a big fat lie.

President Ahmadinejad's Assertions: Loose Change?

Dear teacher and classmates,

I suppose we will not linger on the subject of President Ahmadinejad's UN speech too much longer in class; there is a big world out there to study that doesn't involve lonely middle children seeking international attention. But beyond what you hear in the classroom about conspiracies surrounding 9/11, I think we're all old enough to analyze situations and come to our own decisions on tough subjects, which is why we're in this class in the first place.

Check with your parents first, it's a touchy subject, but Loose Change 9/11: An American Coup is a documentary that you can watch or order on Netflix.com. It shows real footage and features interviews with engineers, pilots, and other people in the concerned fields and at the very least will provide you with better understanding as to why some believe that our government was involved in the attacks.

I don't want to talk about it either way; it bothers me. But if you are interested on the subject or want to know what the heck Ahmadinejad is asserting, I would highly recommend it.

See you soon,
Abby
